Arsenal Stunned by Nasri Injury

Premier League: Arsenal Win At Newcastle

Arsenal FC has been stunned by the injury of prized-midfielder Samir Nasri.  The French international fractured his right fibula during team training with the rest of the Arsenal squad on Tuesday.  Arsenal is currently on a pre-season tour through Austria.

According to team doctors, Nasri could be out of action for as long as 3 months, meaning the midfielder will miss the remainder of the club’s preseason action and the beginning of the English Premier League season.  The 22-year old could return to action sometime in October.

A statement of the club’s website confirmed: “Samir Nasri has sustained a fractured fibula during this morning’s training session at the club’s pre-season training camp in Austria.  The midfielder will be out of action for two to three months.”

The French midfielder had a promising showing in his bebut season for Arsenal, netting 6 times in 29 league appearances and scoring 1 goal during the club’s Champions League campaign.

Nasri’s injury places manager Arsene Wenger in a precarious position as he has now lost a second attacking option following the departure of striker Emmanuel Adebayor.  Wegner’s options are buoyed, however, by the addition of a now-healthy Tomas Rosicky.  The Czech international was sidelined last season with a hamstring injury, but is expected to start in this season’s action following an appearance against Barnet over the weekend.

Arsenal’s pre-season tour continues with a match against SC Colombia on Tuesday night.
