Toronto FC announced Thursday morning that defender Marco Velez was released from the team. The 29-year old defender signed with the club last year on March 19, 2008. During his time in Toronto Velez made 38 appearances, including 31 starts and 2 goals. Velez has also earned 8 caps for the Puerto Rican National Team.
