Inside the Six, Ep. #42: Die Bundesliga, Germany, and What England is Missing

Bundesliga, England, Radio 3 November 2009 | 0 Comments

The Third Half.org’s Johnathan Starling joins me to talk about one of the most exciting leagues in the world.

In recent years, the Bundesliga has become known for open play, high scoring, great crowds and beautiful stadia, but with Bayern Munich still the most prominent club in the league, most outside observers don’t associate the league with parity. However, more than any major league in the world, the Bundesliga combines quality play with a deep league where up to 12 of the league’s 18 clubs could be said to have a shot at Europe. It provides an element of competition that may be missing from other major leagues.

Johnathan talks to me about that, the emerging German talent base, and the slow migration some are making away from the English game.
