With the field set for the 2010 World Cup, the next step in the competition is the draw. On December 4, FIFA will draw the 32 qualified teams into the 8-4 team groups. How FIFA goes about doing that remains mysterious to some. That’s where this podcast comes in.
On Episode 54 of Inside the Six, I welcome back Jared Dubois and Dave Topp. Together we do a mock World Cup draw, going through the steps FIFA will take in allocating the qualified teams into the 32-team field. I help explain the seeding, the likely pods, and by walking through an actual draw, we get an idea of what some groups of deaths are likely to look like, how the easy groups will appear, and the task the United States Men’s National Team has in front of them.
