beckham560Former England captain, LA Galaxy and A.C. Milan midfielder David Beckham ruptured his left Achilles’ tendon during a Serie A match on sunday. A.C. Milan representatives have already estimated the 34 year old will miss five to six months after undergoing surgery in Finland on Monday. Given the superstars age, the injury has the potential to be career-ending.

The injury will rule the midfielder out of both this summers World Cup, and a large portion of the upcoming Major League Soccer season.

“This was an important victory, but this injury prevents us from really enjoying it. It’s an important injury and we need to be able to judge how serious it is,” Milan coach Leonardo told Sky Sports Italia.

The injury occurred in the final minutes of A.C. Milan’s Serie A clash against Chievo. Video of the no contact injury below:

  • I just read that David Beckham was flown to Finland on Monday for surgery on an Achilles tendon injury. I hope not that this could end his playing career.
