Former England captain, LA Galaxy and A.C. Milan midfielder David Beckham ruptured his left Achilles’ tendon during a Serie A match on sunday. A.C. Milan representatives have already estimated the 34 year old will miss five to six months after undergoing surgery in Finland on Monday. Given the superstars age, the injury has the potential to be career-ending.
The injury will rule the midfielder out of both this summers World Cup, and a large portion of the upcoming Major League Soccer season.
“This was an important victory, but this injury prevents us from really enjoying it. It’s an important injury and we need to be able to judge how serious it is,” Milan coach Leonardo told Sky Sports Italia.
