Seattle Sounders FC announced the signing of Swiss striker Blaise N’Kufo Thursday. The 34 year old striker will join Seattle on a free transfer in July from Eredivisie side FC Twente after participating in this summers World Cup. N’Kufo has 27 caps to date with the Swiss national team and has scored 111 goals in 213 appearances for FC Twente.

NKufo“Adrian gave me a very good impression about the club. I have a really good feeling about the club and the people involved with the club. That’s why I chose Seattle. I’m really happy to come to this club,” Nkufo said. “Sigi likes playing football and he has experience with European soccer players. That’s another reason I chose to come. He gave me a good feeling.”

What do Seattle Sounders FC fans think? Good pick up for the club?

this is what ive been waiting for, a big (by mls standards) signing that will help the sounders score goals in the second half of the season. sure nkufo is 34 and pretty slow, but he has a definite knack for getting into the net. combined with the speed of zakuani, the explosive shots of montero, and the playmaking ability of ljungberg, the sounders should dominate the mostly weak defenses of the mls.
