The Philadelphia Union have been pursuing former French international Robert Pires as a potential Designated Player for several weeks now. L’equipe is reporting that Pires has rejected the Union’s interest because he isn’t impressed by the city of Philadelphia.

“I do not want to be difficult, but left to take my family away, I’d rather do it in a beautiful city. Otherwise, I will put an end to my career,” he said.

There are still rumors of several other MLS clubs that are interested in the 36 year old, so he may still land elsewhere in MLS.

Don’t miss the MLS Minute, Monday through Friday at 11AM only on WSR.
